JC Chi is a Principal and Co-Founder of Kuo Diedrich Chi with expertise in the areas of early phase development feasibility, master planning, facility programming, and design implementation of recreational communities and mixed-use residential projects.
JC has gained national prominence with high profile projects throughout the country in addition to extensive experience in resort designs across the international marketplace. He has served as the master designer for communities in Mexico, Central America, the Middle East and India. Over the past 14 years, he has maintained the position as lead design consultant for Harbor Shores Resort on Lake Michigan and once held similar positions at The Sagamore Club in Indiana, The Traditions Club in Texas and Echelon, Achasta and Kingston country clubs in Georgia.
The strength and objective of JC's contribution toward all projects, regardless of location and scale, is to serve as the complete design visionary whether for the grandest of commercial developments or the most personal of residential places.
JC was a classmate of Howard and Mark's at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign for both a BSAS and M.Arch. While in graduate school, he won the esteemed Edward C. Earl Prize for design excellence two of the three competitions, including first place for his Master’s Thesis "Transformable Architecture...a Change of Place."
Born in Southern California and raised alongside the horse farms of Kentucky, JC's varied interests include just about everything except ironically, surfing and horseback riding. As a youth, learning multiple musical instruments and playing just about every sport helped build a strong sense of competitiveness while creating an enjoyment of teamwork.
